My sense of sunlight deprivation and the mix of wintry weather tell me that mid-winter is here. January marks a number of milestones in the school year: For one, the holidays, with their pent-up excitement and busy schedules are behind us, giving our teachers and students some prime learning time in the weeks ahead. Also, we’ve just completed our second round of MAP testing at Bonner School. These standardized tests, given three times through the year, show us the progress your child is making in the critical areas of reading and math. Finally, it means the half-way point of the school year is just around the corner, with second quarter wrapping up on January 19th. We are so pleased with the academic gains Bonner students are making, and you should be proud of the work your kids are doing under the guidance of our great teachers and staff! Report cards will be mailed around the 25th, so take some time to celebrate your child’s achievements, and be sure to contact teachers if you have questions about your child’s grades or if you’d like some explanation of the attached MAP test results. And as always, if you have questions or concerns you’d like to bring to my attention, I’d love to have you stop by and visit! I’ll put the coffee pot on.
