Bonner TK-5th grade Families, don't forget to join us for glow night tonight from 5:30 to 7 pm in the cafeteria! See you there, Bonner PTA
This past month in Ms. Quinn's class, 7th graders have been reading 🍎 The Giver by Lois Lowry. While reading, they have been making amazing observations and connections about the book's symbols and the meaning behind them. Today we took class outside to draw some symbols we have identified while we discussed what they might mean. Check out this amazing work!
You can even hear a student explain his symbol here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RcpcGk59Cl1likmuNruMegQQ81jyY5gn/view?usp=drivesdk

An important part of the Close Up trip is making sure our students know that their elected representatives, and their offices, are accessible to citizens! We had the honor of meeting with both Montana Senators, Jon Tester and Steve Daines.
Ms.Vandermeulen's class was super excited to hang out with these cute baby chicks.
It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for the end-of-year Diagnostic! This is an important benchmark for understanding your student’s progress and growth over the course of the year, which is why it’s so important that they try their best. As with our previous Diagnostic administrations, there are some critical steps we need to take to make sure students are fully prepared and ready to try their best.
Here are a few things you can do to help support your student:
· As always, make sure they get a good night’s rest before taking the Diagnostic!
· Talk to your student about why the last Diagnostic is important. You can say things like:
o The last Diagnostic helps you find out how much progress you’ve made over the course of this school year.
o It allows your teacher and I to celebrate your accomplishments!
o Try your best, and do not rush—but don’t spend too much time on a question either.
· Let them know you’re excited to celebrate their progress.
This years Close Up trip was a blast! Beautiful weather, engaging topics, new people, and awe-inspiring landmarks helped make this trip unforgettable. And despite one travel hiccup in Denver, our 15 students repeatedly represented our community well and met every challenge. For those of you who don't know, Close Up is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that teaches students how to enter a dialogue with others and take on new information in order to empower them as citizens. Pictured here are some students with Mr. Huisken in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
Today we had a visit from the Butterfly House and Insectarium. We got to learn about different bugs and hold them. It was so much fun!

Yesterday 8th graders went to Capitol Hill and the White House, ending their day with the war and Lincoln Memorials at night. 🏛️ 🤩
Yesterday Bonner 8th graders stood in awe and silence looking over the graves of those who served our country, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We saw the changing of the guard and a wreath ceremony with dozens of veterans in attendance (in yellow). Students also went to the FDR, Jefferson, and MLK memorials. What a day! 🇺🇸
Bonner 8th graders are seeing our nation’s capital “Close Up.” Ms. Vandermeulen, Ms. Homer, and Mr. Huisken took 15 students to the National Mall yesterday, as well as the Holocaust Museum. Stay tuned for more pictures!
