Students in Mrs. Vogel's class enjoyed learning about the Grant Creek Schoolhouse and all about pressing apples into cider on their field trip to Fort Missoula!

Mr. Hudson’s fifth grade class’ STEM assignment was to design and build a cardboard house. As you can see this house is pretty amazing with lots of attention to detail. There are windows, an overhang that covers the porch, a hollow foundation that hides a battery pack and wires for the light and switch that are inside the living room. What a cool STEM project!
This is my second year at Bonner as a teacher, but I have been apart of this community for my whole life.
Here is a little fun fact for you: I went to Bonner as a kid from Kindergarten to 8th grade. In first grade I was lucky enough to have the amazing Mrs. Addington. She had a saying and when we were doing well in class she would say "you knocked my socks off boys and girls!" She had a stick with a pair of socks attached to it and would wave it in the air. This is something that has always stuck with me and now something that I say to my students!
Mrs. Addington came to my classroom today and dropped off a special surprise. MY VERY OWN "KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF" STICK! I hope to make the same impact on my students as she made on me. I feel very lucky to be back.

Pumpkin Character Celebration!
Bonner Library is growing a book character pumpkin patch that will decorate our library the end of this month. I am looking for no-carve, (real or fake) decorated pumpkins that represent a favorite book character or book. I will be picking the top 5 most original pumpkins to win a prize! Please bring your pumpkin into the library between October 20th – October 25th so we can display all the fun characters through the last week of October and your student can grab their pumpkin the 29th to display at home over the weekend. I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful ideas!
In English, 7th and 8th graders have been learning about ethically responsible outdoor practices, such as leaving no trace when you recreate outside. After researching this topic, we went hiking in order to put ethically responsible behaviors into practice and to gain inspiration for our next project. To spread the word about leave no trace, 8th graders will design stickers and 7th graders will create PSA videos.
6th graders are learning archaeology the hard way. Students destroyed mugs so that Mr. Huisken could bury them in the sands of time. We then excavated them, catalogued them, and put them back together!
